Colour: Mid to deep brown with pale sapwood.

Characteristics: Straight grained, can be more figured than the American and more suitable for exterior use.

Working properties: Hard, machines and finishes well.

Uses: Interior and exterior Joinery.

Colour: Red to Brown (Mahogany type).

Characteristics: Moderately interlocked grain with moderately fine texture.

Working properties: Stable, hard, machines and finishes fairly well.

Colour: Creamy white with yellowy brown and green streaks.

Characteristics: Very plain and grainless.

Working properties: Stable, soft, machines extremely well and finishes superbly with paint / stains.

Colour: Light yellow to brown.

Characteristics: Interlocked and cross grained.

Working properties: Hard, machines and works fairly well with care, prone to movement if not fixed securely.

American Black Walnut

American Black Walnut

Durability & Density: Moderately durable & 609Kg/M³

Colour: Light brown to chocolate brown, occasionally with purple streaks, sapwood very apparent creamy white colouring.

Characteristics: Straight grained but can have fairly attractive wavy grain, sapwood & knots very common.

Working properties: fairly stable, hard, machines and finishes well with care.

Uses: Generally interior Joinery & furniture.

Colour: White to Greyish Brown with occasional other marks.

Characteristics: Straight grain with fine texture.

Working properties: Fairly hard, machines, works and finishes well.
